JCWI Public Meeting on Adult Dependent Relative Rules

The Adult Dependent Relative (ADR) Rule, in force from July 2012, has effectively closed the route for British citizens and residents to sponsor a non-EEA adult dependent relative to live with them in the UK.

Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) has secured funding from the Strategic Legal Fund (SLF) to analyse the impact the ADR Rule is having on UK families, especially those with young children. Leading on from this research, carried out in conjunction with BritCits, our aim is to launch a legal challenge against the rule.

We are therefore looking to hear from families whose lives have been, or will be, impacted by this Rule.

To get involved, please download and fill out a questionnaire, available on our website: http://jcwi.org.uk/policy/adult-dependent-relatives

We are also holding 5 public meetings across the UK in order to meet with affected families and explain the Rule and its requirements, as well as to provide advice and information on challenging this new Immigration Rule.

To attend one of our meetings, or to get in touch with us about how the rules are affecting your family, please email adr@jcwi.org.uk
