An 18 month artist’s residency by Poulomi Desai organised by Bhaggie Patel of The Phoenix Project in Bolton, UK, working with 25 women who use the safe space and centre, exploring their own experiences of domestic violence, global historical issues of violence, power and oppression. The residency also introduced a critical reading of the place of photography in creating representations within the world, especially of women, and engaged the group with experimental ways of working. A touring exhibition was created consisting of custom made lightboxes, ceramic photo sculptures, installations and launched at The Reebok Stadium Bolton and The Nehru Centre London.
